Megan's Drawing's
Welcome! This page is dedicated to all my current drawings.
I began drawing when I was five after, believe it or not, getting an interest
in Killer Whales. I used to illustrate little stories I made and pretend the
whales I drew were mine. Then shortly after, I got the horrible disease
called “horse crazy” (it started after mom told me I couldn’t save up for a
killer whale and swimming pool) and I was soon drawing pictures of
ponies and stallions nonstop. Since I’ve never been able to own one,
drawing my dream horse helped fill that empty hole. I realized that the
more detailed my pictures were, the more real my horses became. Drawing
made me a perfectionist. I strove for the best, pouring over pages of horse
anatomy and studying their behavoir. I perfected pensil, then I went on to
charcoal (the picture above is charcoal), and now I'm beginning painting.
I've never had an art lesson, all my abilities are learned simply by
studying.
If mom tried getting me a program on how to draw, I could never do it
because I always found myself looking at all the flaws in the artists
drawings (I have a bad habit of that. When I visited Kentucky Horse Park's
art museum, I saw a few pieces I liked, but I found myself always saying
something like, "Oh, this ones head is too small for it's body," and, "If that
horse was real, he'd never be able to servive with those legs.")
So that's how I came to draw. Hope everyone enjoys them, and if anyone
would like to give my mom comments on any of the pictures, PLEASE DO.

Here are three of my best and most
current horse drawings. I've noticed
people have singled them out as
their favorite, so they're rather fan
favorites.
The one on the top left is the oldest
in this section; he's a Saddlebred on
a cliff overlooking the sea.
The one to the top right is my most
current, and he's also a Saddlebred.
I love his black coat and beautiful
legs.
On the right is a Warmblood, I'm
not sure what breed, doing
Dressage. This is my first drawing
at such an odd angle. It was actually
quite difficult to master. But it
turned out very nicely.
Here's some of my other misc
pictures.
The top left is my most current
portrait. I just began working on
people a year ago, and I think I'm
doing pretty well. I still don't think
I've mastered it yet--but at least I'm
trying.
The top right is an Andalusian
doing what's called a Spanish Walk.
My mom only gave me a 95 percent
on it though because she said I cut
of the instructors head, lol!
Last, the picture to the right, is
another warmblood doing
Dressage. I really like how I got the
intructors leg and hands positions
right. It makes it look real.
